INSIDE KNOWLEDGE

If you are looking to be as close to the waves as possible, request an overwater villa on the southern side of Jetty C. Villas 69 -79 face the Jetty C surf break, villas 69 & 70 also have pools. Not only will you know exactly when conditions are right but you can paddle straight off the deck into the action.

SURFING

At the Six Senses Laamu, you share your waves with no-one. Being the only resort this side of the atoll you can paddle out in perfect peace. Six quality breaks sit within 10mins of the resort, and the world-class ‘Yin Yangs’ is only 5mins away. It’s a firm favourite across the Maldives and the surfing world and throws up beautiful hollow right-hand barrels.

A little closer to shore you have the house reef Jetty C that offers a long but quick left-hander, and beginners can find their feet on ‘The Shoulder’, which is an easy paddle out across the calm lagoon.

The best time for waves is from April to October when the wind is favourable, with the biggest swells likely to occur from June to September. This region of the Maldives an experienced surfers dream with numerous quality breaks, both lefts and rights and the crowds are low.
