Beautiful Bure Kalau sits at the epicentre of this stunning resort, inviting guests to wine and dine against a backdrop of birdsong and the ocean breeze. The warm timber deck is the perfect spot for pre-dinner cocktails or to sip and swirl the range of beautiful wines from neighbouring Australia and New Zealand. For those who don’t want to get locked into dining with their feet in the sand at the beachfront restaurant – you can choose to dine wherever the mood takes you; beside the pool or back in the comfort and privacy of your own room. Fresh local and seasonal produce is the name of the game at Qamea; expect bright and beautiful dishes comprised of gifts from the garden, the land and the sea. Red snapper grilled to flaky perfection, watermelon and feta to freshen the palate, and a daily afternoon tea for those who adore adding a touch of sweetness to the afternoon.
Taking inspiration from the lilt of the lagoon, the sparkle of the outdoor pool is all-natural stone ridges, impossibly blue cool waters, and sun-loungers framed by lush jungle colours. Pool cabanas with thatched ceilings provide long shadows of shade during the afternoon heat, and guests are more than welcome to drink and dine, snooze and read, and splash to their heart’s delight.
Consistently collecting accolades and awards for being the best luxury spa resort in Fiji – the Jungle Spa at Qamea is a sanctuary of sublime sensory experiences. Al fresco treatment rooms invite the shifting fair-trade winds from the sea, the cracked vanilla scent of local blooms, and the melody of birdsong to create a soundtrack for hands-on healing practise. From oxygen inspired facial therapies to soothing milk and honey rituals with hot stones, hibiscus wraps, and synchronized four-hand massages – the spa takes its inspiration from the wilds of the Fijian landscape.
Qamea is a place where romance is stashed away in every corner making it a perfect spot for grown-up fun. The resort invites children over 12 to stay, ensuring that adults get the sweet serenity, rest and play they have been waiting for. With only a maximum of 30 guests at the resort at one time, Qamea is far from the crush – meaning lashings of space to stroll and surf and find your own slice of paradise on these lesser-known shores of Fiji.
With only a handful of villas available (15 to be precise), each of the traditional Fijian Bures boast their own dedicated carved out patch amidst the 100-acre property of Qamea. Weaving together traditional elements with a modernist appeal creates a space where guests can breathe easy, inspired by the delights of five-star simplicity. Cathedral-like thatched roofs, a balance of cotton and timber, and decks that offer swaying hammocks and sunset views ensure that every day is a meander into magic.
The beachfront bure pays homage to traditional Fijian grace with its hand-polished mahogany floor and local artwork adorning the walls. 65 square meters of space has been lovingly dressed in luxurious Egyptian linens and bright splashes of colour offset by a soothing minimalist backdrop. European style bathrooms come complete with fluffy robes for snuggles as soon as you step out of the open-air garden showers. A large covered veranda is without a doubt one of the spots where you will spend most of your time – sipping cocktails, watching the sky change colour with the rise and fall of the sun, and swaying in the hammock.
The hush of a honeymoon hideaway awaits starry-eyed couples who choose these sandy shored bures. The delight is certainly in the details at these whimsical 85 square meter wonders where four-poster beds invite long nights, and jacuzzi pools in the courtyard beg for champagne celebrations beneath milky soft starlight. Ocean views and instant sand access encourage barefoot living – as soon as you arrive – kick off your shoes and stay that way until you leave Fiji. Room service comes as standard, turning your beachside deck with privacy curtains into your own restaurant, bar, and amazing arena to reconnect with nature, each other, and the elements of nirvana.
Occupying the finest real estate at the far end of the bleached white sands, the Royal Beach House Bures are every inch a credit to their regal name. A staggering 1600 square meters of space ensures palatial like room to sprawl and play. Rich mahogany, sandstone tiles that cool beneath the feet, and specially commissioned art and the worlds finest linens all add up to curate seamless surroundings. No stone of luxury has been left unturned – from the iPod docking stations to the plasma TV screens and the bright burst of air conditioning, every shade of comfort has been considered. Moving outside and the deck greets the oceans edge – a private pool, outdoor living space, and heated jacuzzi keeps the mood high. Italian bathroom fixtures and double occupancy rooms are also a great option for families or couples sharing their Fijian experience together.
